2018 – The Year of the Dog
Residents, visitors and staff at The Knoll and The Fairways marked and celebrated the Chinese New in style recently with an afternoon of crafting and entertainment.
Our activities co-ordinators, Anna and Rosie, had been working hard for many weeks preparing for the day and led the crafting exercises as residents and visitors tried their hand at making fans and Chinese drums.
The homes were specially decorated for the day with Chinese lanterns, bunting and wall hangings. Rosie had made a Chinese dragon puppet for each home which was named by the residents. At The Knoll he was to be known as Desmond, but at The Fairways she was called Wobbly-Woo!
Authentically styled Chinese snacks and main meals were served along with genuine Chinese beer!
The events were well supported by resident’s families and friends who all appeared to enjoy the Chinese music and activities.
Several members of staff got into the spirit of things with appropriate attire and one even demonstrated his skills in the art of Chinese paper folding.
All in all it was a lovely day which will live long in the memory!
