With over 150 years combined experience in health and social care, our senior leadership team has a wealth and knowledge and a passion to continue learning and sharing.
Having worked in the family business all through school and university, it certainly felt like coming home when I returned, full time, in 1997. Having worked in all sorts of capacities over the years, it’s been fascinating and exciting to see the professionalisation of social care work in the last 10 years or so. The face of social care has changed beyond recognition, and I am incredibly proud that the team here at Bowfell House are leading the way in extolling the virtues and strengths of social care.
Email Claire CI love working at Bowfell House where I feel privileged to work with the whole team to ensure this is a great place to live and work.
There have been enormous changes in adult social care in my 30 plus years in the profession, but I love the fact that every day is different. Every day is a learning day.
My role includes financial and strategic management and I have oversight for compliance and estates. Basically, I sit in on lots of meetings, read lots of documents and complete lots of spreadsheets. If that sounds a bit boring and bureaucratic, I also find lots of time to enjoy chatting with the residents, staff, and families. I find this is a great way to learn what we are doing well and where we can improve.
Away from work I enjoy spinning classes, eating out, and attending live music concerts. I also love spending time with my family and planning our next holiday!
Email MatthewI am passionate about giving our residents the best life possible in their time living with us in their new home. We are a family business and family care centered care is key to Bowfell House and my role. My role as Director of Hospitality is focused on our residents lived experience. I am enthusiastic about our nutrition and hydration offering and believe good food and mealtime experiences are important at all stages of life and can bring so much happiness and joy to our residents’ day.
Working in care for over 30 years I have seen enormous change and I am always excited to learn new things and look for ways to improve the lived experience of all those who live with us at Bowfell House. Looking after our activity provision certainly introduces me to new things, from butterfly gardens to wellness morning, classical afternoons to chair Zumba, myself and the team always look to go above and beyond to improve the lived experience for our residents.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my five children and two granddaughters, I love spinning classes, eating (and drinking!) with friends, spending time at home and going on holiday!
Email JayneI started my role in care 25 years ago aged just 22.
This wasn’t my chosen profession, I trained as a hairdresser for 2 years but fell pregnant with my first child and working nights suited me with children to look after.
It is now a job that I love and couldn’t ever imagine working in any other setting. I have worked in various care settings, starting in EMI residential, I then worked for 15 years in a small residential care home, before becoming a Coordinator of an independent living service for people with Dementia.
I started work at the Knoll Care Partnership in July 2019 working at the Knoll and the Fairways before we transferred over to Bowfell House.
My main role here is to oversee the day to day running of the home, ensuring that our residents needs are met and that our team of staff are all ok. I am also part of the in-house training team and deliver training to our team for Manual Handling and falls prevention.

My role at Bowfell House is very important to me and I feel extremely valued as one of the Care Managers. I have met truly inspirational individuals and have been privileged to work with them through of the most difficult episodes in my career so far.

Bowfell House is a great place to live and work and there nowhere else I’d rather be.

I have been working for the Knoll Care Partnership for 25 years (not counting a few years away whilst I was nursing)– I must have started really young!

Our Testimonials
Mum has been at Bowfell, just over a year now and in that time the owners and staff have made her feel very welcome and the care has been brilliant. The building is modern and bright with all the facilities you’d imagine. Carers encourage Mum to take part in activities and socialise with other residents without pressure, which she has started to do recently. There’s always plenty going on. You can really tell this is a family run business, which extends to their employees, giving a friendly, welcoming feel. Communication is brilliant and no request is too big, small or trivial. Mum has settled so well, under tough circumstances and I cannot imagine her being happier anywhere else. Thank you all.

Myself and the rest of the family are extremely impressed with all aspects of our mum’s care at Bowfell House. The management and staff are very caring and always willing to answer any questions. They keep us informed of any events and provide us with information about activities Mum is participating in. The home is very comfortable and modern. It is a safe and happy environment. I would recommend it to anyone in the same position as we were, in choosing a care home for a loved one.

Bowfell House gives us peace of mind knowing that my mum is cared for to a high standard. She is safe and cared for by all the staff. The staff ensure we are kept updated with any issues arising. Mum is happy with her Bowfell Home and the staff, who are her newest members of our family.

Daughter of resident
It was a big decision to move into care, but with a progressive disease, it was the best solution, and the home gives me independence with support from the staff at all levels.
Care is a small word with a big meaning, and they treat me as l would expect to be looked after. The owners made a home that because it was purpose-built, could cope with the needs of residents 24/7 with everything that was needed to hand. Care is what the world needs more of, and I believe Bowfell gives it to the highest standard.
