Back in 1989, Madeleine & James Callaghan converted their family home into The Knoll, a 10 bedded care home for the elderly residents of Urmston. A year later and The Fairways opened its doors, doubling occupancy. The family business continued to grow when Fairways increased from 10 to 20 beds and regulations changed.
Their overriding principles were based on a strong family ethos, and this took form as their children and wider family worked in and for the business.
The Knoll Care Partnership grew and developed over time as the current cohort of directors stepped into new roles; but each development had the family ethos at its core. Being from a large family, all The Callaghan’s quickly learned the importance of having clearly defined values and maintaining strong family ties.
Bowfell House is the latest development through this journey and remains family owned and managed, with the same values at our core. To extend family care to all those who live in, work in, and visit Bowfell House; to work with Integrity and Compassion and look for Excellence in all we do.
