Topping out marks major milestone for new care home

Mar 29, 2019 / Posted By Knoll Care Partnership

The Knoll Care Partnership (KCP) marked a major milestone today in the construction of its new Bowfell House Care Home with a traditional “topping out” ceremony.

The topping out represents the building reaching its highest point.

Jayne Callaghan and Claire Gardom, partners in KCP, laid a ceremonial brick. They were joined by fellow partners of KCP as well as representatives of both the main building contractor, Warrington based Cruden Property Services, CSquared Architects who specialise in designing dementia friendly buildings and local contractor, James Callaghan Sons & Co

Ltd (CALCO), who constructed the foundations for what will soon become a luxurious 40 bed care home for older people.
The family owned and managed Knoll Care Partnership have been providing care for the elderly in Trafford for over 30 years and this latest development will allow the business to continue extending family based care for the next 30 years and beyond. Commenting on the development so far, Matthew Callaghan of KCP said:

“This topping out ceremony represents the mid-point of the construction phase which has employed over 70 people to date and the finished building will provide permanent employment opportunities for over 50 local people. As a local company, we wanted Bowfell to be an attractive addition to the street scene and be calmly appropriate to its prominent position in the town. We believe the finished building will achieve this whilst providing a care home fit for the future that offers a great place to live and work.”

Bowfell House will provide 40 ensuite bedrooms for older people. The state of the art facility has been designed to be dementia friendly, will have quiet lounges, dedicated activity rooms, a hairdressing salon and balcony overlooking landscaped gardens.

The home is due to open in Autumn 2019. If you are interested in working in the new facility or wish to secure the room of your choice please contact Claire Gardom at:

Thoughts of our Customers

  • Bowfell House is purpose built to cater for all the needs of the residents. While it is a lovely building ....... it is the staff that make you feel secure in the knowledge that your loved one is being well looked after

    Daughter of a Resident

  • Bowfell is a sparkling new state of the art care home which continues to keep hold of the traditions set by Fairways. The attention to detail is second to none, in fact .... I would like to reserve a room! Over the last few weeks I have found myself dancing, singing and playing the maracas, what a great atmosphere for the residents and their close family

    Son of a Resident

  • I cannot praise ALL the staff highly enough for their excellent care and compassion towards my mum.  The home is spotless and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming.  My mum has improved with her mobility, and eating since moving in. Our Family have been involved in all care making decisions for mum and welcomed when we visit. You should all be very proud :)

    Daughter of a Resident

  • Our Sister has settled well and is thriving in the fabulous environment that is Bowfell. I could speak of the surroundings, food and hairdressing all of which are first class but it is the amazing staff who are the reason I felt the need to contact you. Every level of staff have contributed to a perfect whole.

    Sister of a Resident

  • My Sister has been a resident firstly at The Knoll and now at Bowfell House since September 2019. From the first moment we visited the staff shone like a beacon on a very dark day. Their sense of commitment, empathy and dedication was palpable. They were in a class of their own. The understanding shown to me and all my sister's family as we faced the very difficult decision to entrust our Sister to their care has been amazing.

    Sister of a Resident

  • My mother has only been a resident in Bowfell house since mid-November and we have had nothing but exceptional care and service from all the team starting with the warm welcoming smile on arrival from Vicky to the housekeepers. The carers have cared for mum with dignity and warmth which has been a blessing for my sister and myself. It is good to know who to speak to with any feedback but so far everything is fabulous.
